American School of Valencia eventually defeated ICS Amman 44-36 in a scintillating U19 Boys Championship final which was tied at 18-18 at the half way point - an incredible final match to round off WSG Basketball 2024!

Wow! English school ACS Cobham have clinched the crown of U19 Girls WSG Basketball Champions after defeating International School of Geneva 22-17 and finishing first in an incredibly close group.
Our snapper was on hand to capture the moment that final buzzer sounded, and the photos certainly don't disappoint...

An incredibly strong performance by ICS Amman 1 U16 Boys sees them overcome British School of Valencia by 46 points to 23 to be crowned WSG Basketball Champions!
A huge well done to everyone involved with the Jordanian school - just look at what it means...

After the last remaining group stage matches to determine which teams progress to the knockout stages, our Cup Finals will take centre stage with teams vying to be crowned World Champions of School Basketball!

What a day we've had! Some tremendous basketball has been played throughout the first day of matches as the group standings across our age categories begin to take shape.
Tomorrow is Finals Day but we first need to see who will be competing for the silverware with it all to play for heading into our last few group stage matches.

Here's a look at how things stand in each group after the first day of matches.
Strong performances from ICS Amman sees them occupy top spot in both U16 Boys Group A and U19 Boys Group A heading into Finals Day. Collegiate International School sit top of U16 Boys Group B, while BISC and IES Jaume II el Just are joint-first in U16 Girls Group A.
Elsewhere, ACS Cobham's U19 Girls team proudly sit first in Group A after three matches played. A full rundown of every result and the current standings can be found on the official WSG Basketball App.

As the action continues, a reminder that The World School Basketball Championships are raising funds across the weekend to donate to the ongoing Valencia flood relief fund.
We brought you the news last night that our three All Star matches raised a fantastic €1270, but the fundraising effort continues as we aim to play our part in aiding Valencia's recovery.

The first teams are just beginning to arrive here at L'Alqueria del Basket ahead of the first group stage matches getting underway at 10am CET, and we can't wait for it all to get going.

The World School Basketball Championships - in partnership with The Twedex Foundation - this evening raised a fantastic €1270 for Valencia's flood relief fund!
The Twedex Foundation pledged to donate €10 for every point scored and €50 for every three-pointer, with the stakes doubling to €100 for a three during the Teachers' match.
The match finished ROW 30-51 Europe, with a number of spectacular three-pointers scored across the matches - a big 'well done' and 'thank you' to everyone.
Keep a look out for posters dotted around L'Alqueria del Basket over the weekend with a QR code you can scan to donate to the relief fund.

The inaugural WSG Basketball All Star matches were a huge success, with Team Europe taking on Team Rest of the World in Boys', Girls', and Teachers' matches!
The ROW led after the Boys' match before the scores were tied at 22-22 following the conclusion of the Girls' game.
The much-anticipated Teachers' All Star match then took centre stage on our Show Court, where Team Europe ran out eventual winners by 51 points to 30 over Team ROW.

We're officially underway after a spectacular Opening Ceremony here at L'Alqueria del Basket!
We met our Team Captains for the first time, heard from professional Valencia Basket players, and were 'wowed' by the stunning skills of Street Airlines' Dunk Show. Oh, and WSG mascot, Atlas the Eagle, made his first appearance of the weekend.

As well as that, they'll be treated to a tour of the stunning facilities on offer across the weekend before returning for the highly-anticipated WSG All Stars match this evening.

Welcome to The World School Basketball Championships 2024 live blog - today's the day our teams start arriving in our wonderful host city of Valencia from all corners of the globe!
After postponing the tournament in November 2024 due to the devastating flooding in Eastern Spain, we are delighted to be welcoming 17 schools from 11 countries spanning three continents to compete across U16 & U19 Boys' & Girls' age groups.
It all kicks off tomorrow with our grand Opening Ceremony and the first ever WSG Basketball All Stars match. Two days of action will then follow on Sunday and Monday as our teams battle it out to be crowned World Champions of School Basketball.
The countdown is on... stay tuned!
