Landed safe and sound, quick check in and leg stretch before we're off out for the day!
Wow. Just wow. After most likely not sleeping on the flight due to excitement, this ParkHouse bunch were an absolute credit to themselves today. We visited Tumshangilieni Mtoto Children's home. We were welcomed by a cultural performance before we went on our program. We taught kids in class, exchanged our cultures, got stuck in with some manual labour (Gardening) and of course we had to have some friendly yet competitive games. An amazing start to this tour. Some well earned rest tonight.
Today saw our latest start to give these guys a chance to fully recover. Then we were out with a bang! Learning all about Orphaned Elephants and the amazing conservation work being done in Nairobi.
From here off we went for the national museum of Kenya and a private performance by a local drumming band. What a fantastic day, shy at first, this lot got involved with the dancing and drums and loved every minute.
Another beautiful day of interaction, engagement and good old hard work! This brilliant bunch took on painting rooms, conducting house visits in the local community, leading reading classes with kids and traditional bead making. There may be some souvenirs in store for some special people at home.
Moment of the day was when 6 of the brave boys took a can of paint, some brushes and headed straight for the room themselves. Intrigued teachers followed behind. In the space of 3 minutes the boys had got into vests, tunes blaring and a full plan of action for tackling the room. Amazing to see!
The evening was closed out by a requested photoshoot at our lovely dinner spot.
After a long and quiz filled bus to Amboseli we said hello to the serene Safari Lodge for the next 2 nights. A great start to our Safari as we got up and close with a 52 year old Elephant with the longest tusks in the whole Amboseli National Park. Some serious excitement as alot of the boys found their photography skills.
Our last full day saw us up bright and early. Out the door for a FULL DAY safari at 7.30am. Or at least that was the hope, without naming names. Kids had an absolute blast as we got to follow 50 Elephants migrate to water where the young Elephants (1 year olds) had some supervised play with their mothers. Not something which will be forgotten any time soon. A picnic lunch in the park was a treat before wrapping the day up with a visit to a local Maasai Village. The kids finally got their much requested hour of free time where some spikeball competitions took place.
Day 6 saw us on our way with another quiz filled bus journey to Nairobi. Some questionnable answers (again shall remain nameless) provided great entertainment for the journey.
A quick stop at the amazing Giraffe conservation centre before heading straight to the airport as the sun sets on a truly unforgettable trip.
