The troops have landed - we welcome Doha College to Italy for an action packed few days in Rome. Stayed tuned for updates!
Well this wasn’t in the schedule! A little fresher than anticipated with some rain showers - but we still got to see some great parts of Rome!
Our key locations were Piazza Navona, San Luigi dei Francesi, Pantheon, Tempio di Adriano , Largo Argentina (where Julius Cesar was assassinated) & Piazza delle Tartarughe.
We headed back to the hotel a little earlier than planned due to the weather but we will make up for any locations skipped today later in the trip!
Despite the weather trying its best to de rail us yesterday, we are up and ready to go for an action packed Day 2! First stop - Colosseum!
The sun is out, as are the Doha College smiles! An amazing day exploring the rich and vibrant history of Rome.
Today, we went to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum.
An afternoon visit to Capitoline Museum's was a great addition to a superb day of learning.
Now on route to dinner in the city - who is hungry?!
The team will be awake shortly before another big day in Rome. First on the agenda today (after a hearty breakfast) is a tour of the Vatican Museums. We will keep the photos coming!
Due to the sunshine we actually swapped our day plan around a little, visiting Villa Borghese (a beautiful park in the middle of Rome) first. After some fun games and a little movement, we had our picnic lunch before the main course of the day; the Vatican museums.
We were treated to a private tour of the museums as well as Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica - really bringing the history curriculum from school to life!
Tomorrow we have our final day in Rome before our late evening flight - where has the time gone?!
Good morning! Another beautiful day here in Rome - that first day seems like an age to now!
We have saved the best until last today. There will be a 3 group rotation where students get a chance to an intimate cooking class, spend some time in the park and finally do so shopping! So much to get through, so you probably won’t see much from our side until the students are at the airport to check in for the evening flight.
Lets go! 🇮🇹
The full Italian experience - pasta making from scratch and then the best bit - getting to eat it!
No matter the trip, there always has to be a chance for a little bit of retail therapy. Parents, you might find a few souvenirs in the luggage when the pupils get home!
Thank you so much once again Doha College! We hope you enjoyed Rome as much as we did and look forward to seeing you soon!
Parents - the flight is on time as things stand and is due to land in Doha at 04:50. All of the pupils will be very excited to see you there (as will the teachers!). Over and out 🫡
