Day 1 | Fri 26th April
After an early start and a long day of travelling, Dubai English Speaking School's footballers have arrived in Madrid for their week long tour.
First stop was a short drive from the airport to Atletico Madrid's Civitas Metropolitano home.
DESC get to grips with Atletico Madrid's 70,000 seater home on their first day in the Spanish capital.
In a little more than 24 hours, Diego Simeone and his players will follow in the footsteps of the DESC students and staff when they take on Athletic Bilbao in a huge game in the race for Champions League qualification at the Civitas Metropolitano.
The stadium might be a little noisier when the group return tomorrow evening!
Day 2 | Sat 27th April
Despite a soggy start to the day, the DESC squads kept their spirits high as they took part in a walking tour of the Spanish capital - with room for a hot chocolate stop on the way!
After a day of travelling yesterday and a couple of hours sightseeing this morning, DESC’s squads pulled on their boots and got their first training session of the week in their legs.
Tomorrow the first fixtures of the tour get underway with all four squads in action against Spanish opposition in Madrid!
After going behind the scenes at the Civitas Metropolitano yesterday, DESC are back for the big match between Atlético and Athletic Club in the race for a spot in the Champions League.

Day 3 | Sun 28th April
After the excitement of last night’s match, the DESC squads are in action this morning as they take on some local Madrid opposition.
A big win for the girls and an enthralling 4-4 draw for the U14 boys got us started in some style!
This afternoon it’s rollercoaster time as the students seek some thrills at Madrid’s Warner Bros theme park!

Day 4 | Mon 29th April
Today is dedicated to Real Madrid. This morning DESC’s players were put through their paces at the Real Madrid training centre before touring the facility and learning all about the progression from the youth academy to first team.
This afternoon we’re off to tour the iconic Santiago Bernabéu, the home of 14 time Champions League winners Real Madrid.
This afternoon the DESC students visited the Santiago Bernabéu before taking a trip the Madrid’s Parque el Retiro.
With plenty of shirts picked up in the club shop, there was a clear winner in the popularity contest when it came to the player of choice for the back of the shirt!
Day 5 | Tues 30th April
This morning DESC’s players took part in a training experience with the second tier’s leaders Leganes.
With a pitch session and some time in the first team gym, the students got a personalised experience at the home of the La Liga hopefuls.
After a bit Spanish lunch, the squads took a look behind the scenes at Leganes’ Estadio Municipal Butarque home.
It was another set of worthwhile games as DESC took on local opposition - including teams from the Leganes academy - in Madrid this evening.
Tomorrow sees the group visit Atletico Madrid’s training centre for a session with the Atleti coaches!
Day 6 | Wed 1st May
The DESC squads got their final club training session underway this morning at Atlético Madrid’s training complex.
The students were put through their paces with members of the club’s academy staff, while the women’s first team trained at the same time.
What an experience for the young players before their final set of tour matches this evening.
Day 7 | Thursday 2nd May
On their final morning in Madrid, the DESC squads got together for some final football action with their Champions League 7-a-side tournament.

and just like that, the DESC students are heading for home.
Over the course of a week in Spain’s capital, the Dubai youngsters have learned how to play like the pros, experienced life at three of the city’s football clubs, witnessed a 3-1 win for Atletico Madrid at the Civitas Metropolitano and developed as people and players.
It’s been a pleasure to host a fantastic group of young people in Madrid - safe travels!
