Day 1 | Sat 23rd Nov
After an early start and a long day of travelling, American School of Bahrain students have arrived in Madrid for their week long tour.
First stop was to explore Madrid city center and some of the most tourists places in the city. The group spent an amazing morning visiting places like the Royal Palace of Madrid, el Mercado de San Miguel, one of the most traditional food markets in Spain, walked the beautiful Plaza Mayor, stopped at the popular Puerta del Sol and walked all the way to Cibeles, known as the place were Real Madrid teams celebrate their titles.
The students also experienced the most traditional breakfast in Spain, they had "chocolate con churros" and they absolutely loved.
After touring the city we headed to the hotel were we had lunch and charged batteries for what it was coming in the afternoon.
Welcome to La Liga!
The group had the opportunity to experience a La Liga live match between two historical teams, Atlético de Madrid VS Deportivo Alavés.
The atmosphere was incredible, everything was set and the students gave their all supporting and cheering at Atlético.
What a come back by the colchoneros with 2 goals at the second half to secure the three points and keep them in the fight for the title.
A great match where the final score was 2-1 for the locals.

Day 2 | Sun 24th Nov
What a day it has been at Parque Warner Theme Park!
Students were super excited to let their hair down on the rollercoasters. We spent a full day at the park and everyone had an amazing day exploring the theme park and enjoying the rides.
Tomorrow will be another action packed day. First thing in the morning will be learning some traditional flamenco dance, let's see who's got the best moves. In the afternoon, we will visit one of the most important art museums in the world, the beautiful Museo Nacional del Prado.

Day 3 | Mon 25th Nov
Today we visited the fantastic dance academy Expresarte, where the professional flamenco dancer, Beatriz welcomed the group. Boys, girls and teachers tested themselves and showed their talent dancing Flamenco.
What a morning this was, plenty of laughs and great movements, maybe there could be a future flamenco dancer, who knows? The experience ended up with a dance and castañuelas performance.
In the afternoon it was time to visit the National Museum of Prado, one of the most iconic arts museums in the world.
The group got to see and explore the most famous artists of history and its paintings. It was great to see them all delve into the paintings, as they were curious to see more about the history behind.
At night the group took part on a bowling tournament. Everyone was great on the lanes, some talented bowlers as well and the most important, everyone had great time.
It has been a full action packed day of sport and cultural activities and it is extraordinary to see the students developing their Spanish language skills.

Day 4 | Tues 26th Nov
¡Buenos días! What an action packed day the students have had today on their fourth day in Madrid.
The students spent the morning visiting Spain's largest and most historical bullring in the country - Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas - with capacity for nearly 24,000 spectators.
The kids learned the history behind the walls and some had the opportunity to test themselves doing a "corrida de toros."
Completed in 1931, Las Ventas has been home to cultural events in the Spanish capital for nearly 100 years. It has undergone some recent improvement works to allow the venue to host a range of events, including concerts and theatre performances, for many years to come!
This afternoon the students took a look behind the scenes at one of the world's most iconic football stadiums, the Santiago Bernabeu.
Freshly renovated, the home of giants Real Madrid is as impressive as ever.
Day 5 | Wed 27th Nov
It is day 5 and it's another beautiful day in Madrid, and the sun is shining.
Today's first stop was to visit the Atletico de Madrid's 70,000 seater home. After experiencing the live match from the stands it was time to explore the behind the scenes.
After an intense morning at the Atletico de Madrid stadium, the afternoon's plan was to spend some time at Plaza Norte 2, a beautiful shopping center, where the students spend some time shopping.
Day 6 | Thur 28th Nov
Today in our last day in Madrid the group visited el Parque de El Retiro. Students were fascinated with the nature and beauty of the park.
It was a beautiful morning and we had a nice walk around the park.
After visiting Madrid's Parque de El Retiro, the group headed to city center to test their culinary skills in a local cooking class.
From making empanadillas and Spanish omelettes to preparing a traditional paella. The students learned some of the secrets of how to make the best Spanish dishes. They were all focused on every single detail as they are now prepared to make this delicious recipes at home.
After preparing and making the menu they all cheered with some handmade fresh lemonade and got to eat what they cooked!
We have seen some amazing chefs today.
And just like that, the AS Bahrain students are heading for home.
A special shoutout to Ruth, Juan and Josef, what a lovely and professional staff, who managed to make this trip possible keeping everyone happy, well drilled and safe at all times.
