Day 1 | Sun 2nd Feb
After a long flight, GEMS students have arrived in Madrid for their week long tour.
First stop was to explore Madrid city center and some of the most tourists places in the city. The group spent an amazing morning visiting places like the Royal Palace of Madrid, walked the beautiful Plaza Mayor, stopped at the popular Puerta del Sol!
After touring the city the group headed to the hotel, checked in to the hotel, had dinner and then off to bed for a well deserved sleep to charge batteries for exciting week ahead!
Day 2 | Mon 3rd Feb
First up on day to was to visit the historic National Museum of Prado, one of the most iconic arts museums in the world.
The group got to see and explore the most famous artists in history and finest art the world has seen. It was great to see them all immerse and enjoy the experience in such a wonderful environment.
The next stop on this sunny afternoon was to visit the home of Atletico de Madrid, The students got to explore the behind the scenes, get up close to where the players prepare for match days including being on pitch side and visiting the players locker rooms!
Day 3 | Tue 4th Feb
Today, students from GEMS World Academy, had an unforgettable day exploring the historic city of Segovia. Their adventure began at the iconic Roman Aqueduct, a breathtaking feat of ancient engineering that has stood for nearly 2,000 years. From there, they strolled through the charming old town to visit the Segovia Cathedral, a stunning Gothic masterpiece that left everyone in awe.
After a morning of sightseeing, the group enjoyed an authentic Spanish lunch at a local restaurant. Energized and ready for more, they continued their journey to the magnificent Alcázar of Segovia, a fairy-tale castle that once inspired Walt Disney. Climbing the tower, they were treated to spectacular panoramic views of the city.
With memories made and history brought to life, the students wrapped up their day and headed back to Madrid. Stay tuned for more updates!
Day 4 | Wed 5th Feb
What a fantastic morning in the heart of Madrid! With the sun shining and blue skies above, the group dove headfirst into the world of Spanish cuisine at a local cooking school.
From crafting perfectly crispy empanadillas to mastering the flip of a Spanish tortilla and stirring up a rich and flavorful paella, our young chefs embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. The energy was high, the teamwork was impressive, and let’s just say, there were some very "creative" omelette flips!
After all the slicing, dicing, and sizzling, it was time for the best part, eating! The students sat down together to enjoy their homemade feast, washing it down with freshly squeezed orange juice. Bravo, GEMS World Academy, your families are in for a treat when you return!
With full stomachs and happy hearts, the group spent the afternoon unwinding at the stunning El Retiro Parque. Whether it was rowing boats on the lake, exploring the grand promenades, or simply soaking up the peaceful surroundings, it was the perfect way to relax after a busy morning. A day well spent in Madrid!
Day 5 | Thur 6th Feb
On the last day of the trip, the morning was spent with some well earned retail therapy on Madrid’s iconic Gran VĂa, because no trip is complete without a little shopping spree! The students hit the stores, hunting for souvenirs, trendy Spanish fashion, and let’s be honest probably a few last minute gifts for family to prove they didn’t forget them.
With shopping bags in hand and wallets a little lighter, it was time to refuel. The group headed to one of Madrid’s coolest urban neighborhoods for lunch, where they got a taste of the city’s vibrant food scene.
A day of fashion, food, and fun!!
Day 5 - Thur 6th Feb
to top the tour off the students had the ultimate football fan experience with a visit to the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home of Real Madrid! Exploring the club’s trophy-filled museum, where history is made, it was a dream come true for some of our Real Madrid fans in the group.
Selfies were taken, jerseys were eyed up in the megastore, and a few students might have started plotting their future football careers. Whether a die-hard Madridista or just along for the ride, everyone left with a new appreciation for one of the world’s most legendary football clubs. Hala Madrid!
