DAA - Vietnam History & Culture
Grade 9 students from DAA take on the underground hideouts, bustling markets and tantalizing street food in the war-torn city of Ho Chi Minh.
GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!
Day 1 - the Amazing Race! Our tourists split into two groups and went head-to-head in various challenges around Ho Chi Minh. Highlights of the day included: figurine & postcard crafting, visiting the art gallery & singing a song at the Opera House. Later, we learned about Saigon in the History Museum & Emperor Jade Pagoda and finished the day at The Walking Street.
CU CHI TUNNELS & COOKING CLASS
Students visited the Chu Chi tunnels and war memorial sight. Some even squeezed into the underground tunnels that were used by soldiers during the American War. The group then tested their culinary skills in a local cooking class where they picked their own organically grown ingredients from a nearby farm.
CAN THO & CAI BE
The group packed their bags and headed for the Mekong Delta. On route, they stopped in Cai Be to learn how to make local delicacies (candy & rice paper) and finished the afternoon weaving traditional baskets. As sun set, there was a visit to the Can Tho night market where the group had dinner and bought souvenirs.
SAIGON, SAIGON!
As the group returned to Ho Chi Minh they visited the final stops of the tour including the Reunification Palace, Chinatown markets and War Remnants Museum. There was time for some last minute souvenir shopping to cap off what was a wonderful week learning about Vietnamese culture & history in Ho Chi Minh city.
